Yes, when used with the proper grits/polish this will give your stones a polish. Please note that not all rocks will take a polish regardless of what tumbler or polish you use.

The price has increased since the 70s without a doubt. I just don't know how much interest users would have in it. Some of the rubber components may have deteriorated, like the drive belt.
