16 inch Covington Vibrating Lap

Covington’s 16” Automatic Vibrating Lap is the most popular size in the lineup, designed to abrade and polish slabs automatically with minimal effort. Unlike traditional rotary laps, this machine uses vibration to grind and polish. Heavier rock slabs stay steady under their own weight while the lap pan vibrates beneath, ensuring consistent results. Thinner end cuts and slabs may require additional weight on the back to prevent hydroplaning.

With a generous 25 lb. capacity, this model is perfect for both hobbyists and professionals. It is large enough to handle bigger workpieces or multiple smaller pieces at once, yet compact enough for use on a tabletop or workbench.

The aluminum pan features a grooved surface for fast, efficient cutting, while the included bumper ring helps protect slabs from chipping. Switching to polishing is easy—just clean the grooved pan and insert the included polishing pad. With only one pan provided, proper cleaning between stages is essential for best results. A single thumb screw allows for quick pan removal and easy cleaning between stages.
