Description Cerium Oxide Polish Powder

Our Cerium Oxide Polish Powder is a fine-grade compound designed specifically for lapidary use. With an average particle size of 1.5–2.5 microns, it delivers a consistent, polished finish on stones such as agate, jasper, and quartz. Ideal for use as the final polishing step in both rock tumbling and cabbing, this powder mixes easily with water to form a slurry and can be applied to felt or leather pads on cabbing machines or added directly to rock tumbler loads.

Available Sizes:

  • 4 oz
  • 1 lb
  • 5 lb
  • 44 lb

General Usage Instructions:
For rock tumbling, use approximately 1 tablespoon of cerium oxide per pound of tumbler capacity and run for 7 days to achieve a polished finish. For cabbing, either mix with water to a slurry the consistency of a thin cream and brush it onto a felt or leather pad, or dip the stone in water and then into the dry powder before polishing.

Depends on the prior steps. If it is ready for the polishing stage then cerium oxide is best. We'd recommend ZAM buffing compound as a final or prior stage to cerium as well.
It won't stain. There are exceptions like soft porous rocks. Also if the rocks have cracks or fissures the particles can get stuck and show.
