No Adhesive backing. Our steel cabbing top plate laps offer excellent cutting at a low cost to the user. A metal bonded diamond disc without the aluminum or steel backing disc found on standard diamond laps. Must be used with water as a coolant with an additive (tool cool), this will help extend the life of all laps. 6" with 1/2" arbor hole.

SUPER abrasive at first. Take a little while to tone it down but these last forever and are a great buy, especially the more course grits

No, if you still have your backing plate from the original you can remove the spent top plate and use the backing plate with the new top plate.

Possibly, but aren't you worried about deflection?

These arent measured with a mean time before failure. As a rule of thumb, they will outlast your resin discs once/twice before they need to be replaced.
