I am a heavy user of both Hi Tech and Ameritool Flat Lap machines for my own jewelry making and rock polishing applications, and for workshops that I teach. I used to purchase manufacturer replacement discs for these machines that cost anywhere from $75-$100. When I saw the discs that Kingsley had for sale at less than a third of that price, I had to try them. Three years later I have saved over $1,000 by using these discs that are just as high of quality as the manufacturer discs.

I use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive on worn out discs, pry them loose from the backer plate with a flat head screw driver, and then use a little bit of WD 40 to dissolve any remaining adhesive. After a good warm water and dish detergent cleaning I just peel off the PSA paper from the new disc and carefully center and apply the new disc to the old backer plate. The whole process takes about 10 minutes and saves me $50-75 on each disc!
