Is this used to add bulk in second stage tumbling. I thought they would be bigger.

Yes, these can be used as a filler in your tumbler. If you're looking for a larger filler I would recommend the large non abrasive ceramic media, we also have a small non abrasive that would be bigger than the plastic pellets as well.
