A 4 step accessory kit makes it possible for you to grind, shape and polish gem material immediately. Our American made All-U-Need horizontal lap machine is one of the most durable flat laps available on the market. Grind flats, re-work quartz crystals or make millimeter and free-form cabochons with this easy-to-use machine. It is also well-suited for cutting, shaping and polishing glass. The All-U-Need is powered by a 1/4HP, heavy-duty, ball bearing DC motor. This motor is variable speed so you can work at whatever pace you desire, delivering speeds from 800rpm up to 3400rpm. This portable machine can be used anywhere. Whether you are at home, in the shop or even on the road, this quiet machine won't disturb others around you. It is lightweight and has an impact-resistance body which is rust free, making it even easier to travel with. The coolant reservoir holds about a pint of water to prevent heat build-up while you work and removes dust particles so you don't inhale any harsh chemicals. That pint of water will give you 2-3 straight hours of work without refilling. The black splash guard keeps the water off you and prevents you from getting soaked while you work. The clean-up is as simple as it gets. Simply remove the black spray shield, rinse with clean water and you are all set to work again. Each All-U-Need lap machine comes with an accessory kit that allows you to work right out of the box. Our grinding and polishing process makes easy work of finishing quartz, agate, jasper, tourmaline, corundum, opal and a wide variety of natural and synthetic gem material. This kit also works well with glass and enamels.

What are the warranties and whatdoes it cost for repairing if there is a warranty. The only review says it's costly and shipping is the responsibility of owner.

I now had my 8" Flat lap for at least 10 years, if not more and it is still working awsome.

I have changed all my laps, from the cheap ones that came with it to aluminum master laps adhered with diamond topped plates. I also weighed down the top cover with magnets and put a thin weather strip along the top to quiet it down and make it all smooth running. The machine motor still runs nice and smooth even with all the added weights. I also have a Loretone combo 6" wheel unit that I use, but this is the overall one that everyone likes to use when doing bulk cabs.

Too expensive for what it is and how long it lasts.

Works great for a while, but the motor did not last 2 years. Repair is expensive and the company is of little help there. Can't buy a new motor separately, have to go through their repair service which at this time is the US $ 175, plus shipping, so not happy about that.
