I found this 60/90 Silicon Carbide grit to work very well. I didn't have to re-run batches multiple times when running loads of fairly nice rocks. Jagged pieces of course take multiple runs after changing grit weekly but as they say, the end product is only going to be as the product you started with (so to speak).
