The pump will stay on. But no water should come out of the valve on the machine. It is important to not over-tighten the valves. You can damage the needle which will cause them to leak. You could put the pump on a surge protector and use the on-off switch...
If your tubing is blue in color then all you would need to a straight barb fitting (we could include one if you make a note at checkout). If your tubing is clear then we would need a reducing bushing.
Yes, we sell this part. It only comes as the silver fitting.
Enough to cover the bottom intake vents, at the bare minimum. But as a best practice, keep it full past the vents.
