The Convoy C8+ UV LED flash light is a power house. The 365nm spot beam is concentrated in the 1-3/4" reflector head, making for a long reaching spread of UV light. This means you will have a better chance of seeing a fluorescent minerals. The 8-3/4" long flash light body makes it easy to hold your hand. This light accomodates two 18650 rechargable lithium ion batteries. The pre-installed ZWB2 filter makes the uv light output closer to the desired nanometer wave length of 365.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This is a high-performance light and is not intended for continuous use because the LED WILL overheat and burn out if the light is left on continuously for too long. The flashlight sheds the excess heat to the surrounding air - so if it is cold out - say less than 55 degrees F, the flashlight may be operated for much longer periods of time than if the surroundings are room temperature. When the head of the flashlight feels hot to the touch, turn the flashlight off and let it cool for a few minutes. Just turn it on when looking, off when not. Don't make the mistake of putting it in your pocket when it is turned on.

I did buy my Convoy C8 UV flashlight from Kingley North because they have one of the best prices. A good UV thrower is hard to find. This is the best I have found. It will light up fluorescent minerals from 10 feet away super bright. Of course, get a good Li ion battery charger. I like Nitecore with the digital display. For batteries: Green 5A Panasonics and Red 10A have long battery life and plenty of discharge for any market flashlight. I think they supply the green Panasonics with this flashlight, which makes it a very good deal IMO. I found yooperlites in WI, unfortunely I did not have this. I think you can find them around most of the Great Lakes. I feel this light is the GPZ 7000 of UV rockhounding. I use it for green chalcedony and purple fluorite in AZ (colors reflected under UV). Of course, you need to know where to go. Not hard to find on Google. Flashlight takes two 018650 batteries; I personally use a 018650 button battery for the tailcap battery, seems to work a tad better. It will makes sense when you analyze it; better contact.

Amazing flashlight! Horrible battery chargers

I bought 3 of the convoy c8 flashlights for our trip to Lake Superior to find sodalite rocks, the flashlights work AMAZING, but the chargers that come with them are junk! They don’t fully charge the battery’s as I charged them for 12 hours and then put them on someone’s higher quality charger, that shows the level and they weren’t even charged halfway. Please ship with better chargers.

Make sure both batteries are fully charged. This light will arrive with a minimal charge on both batteries. The charger is a low output so you can leave the batteries on the charger for 8+ hours.
