Clean, pure lubricants are essential to a scratch-free facet surface! Tap water may contain all manner of impurities. So it's best to stay away from its use. Filtered drinking water is preferred if purer forms of water cannot be obtained. Do NOT reuse water or oils that have been used in the polishing process!! A thorough cleansing between polishing mediums is all that is needed to insure no cross-contamination. Cleanup with alcohol, soap and water, 3M scrubber, and Bon-ami kitchen cleanser, or similar, will ensure a clean surface for your next polishing medium.
